Between Souls Newsletter #1 QR Code

What a week! I released my book last Thursday, and I had an amazing response! Thanks to everyone who sent emails, notes and tweets. I love hearing from readers who love Lucie as much as I do.

I also appreciate everyone who signed up for my newsletters. I was excited to send the first one out this week (image on left). For anyone who did not sign up but would like to see what I sent, you can click this link or use the QR code with your smart phone.

What is a QR code? Here's a great description, but basically it is like a square bar code that phones with scanners can read. When you use a QR code reader, your phone is redirected to specific content, such as a web page. I downloaded i-nigma for my iPhone (it was free), but there are more than 15 QR reader apps in the App Store.

Drum roll please...  this is my QR code for my newsletter. If you have a QR reader on your phone, simply use it to scan the code. You'll see a shortened web address - that's my newsletter page. Click to go online, and you should be taken to the mobile version of the newsletter. So cool! (If you're viewing my blog on your phone, you're out of luck unless you have a friend with a QR reader who can scan this code for you...maybe it's best to wait until you get home.)

I plan to have QR codes for all of my newsletters, so if you don't want to subscribe, you can still get the latest info. I'm also going to add a page to my www.BetweenSouls.com site with the archived newsletters.

If you do subscribe after a newsletter goes out, I will send your copy to you as soon as I can. I am notified when a new subscriber is added, so I can ask the system to send it to all new subscribers only. And so that you know, the subscriber list is private and is not shared with anyone. Not ever. So you should feel safe entering your email address.

Thanks again for all of the support. I hope to have more fun updates for you early next week.

My Book Is Available

Exciting news today in the Hess household - my book is available! I have published The Prophecy in multiple formats for you to download and enjoy. New links on the side of this page and at www.BetweenSouls.com can take you to the sites where it is available.

So as of today, it is available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and Smashwords.com. Smashwords is an ebook publishing site that offers the book in 10 formats, including Sony readers and web page versions for anyone without an ebook reader. I am in the process of publishing in the Apple store for download to the iPad as well. I have also started to create a paperback version of The Prophecy. That will take a little longer, but I'll post updates when it is available.

All three vendors have the option for you to download a free sample before buying, so even if this type of book is not your usual choice, you can check out the beginning. I love that option. I know I'm not the only one who flips through books in a store to see if they are what I want, and the free sample lets me do that online. Love it.

And if you read it and want to spread the word, please do! Feel free to tweet or post on facebook or email as much as possible. And if you sign up for my newsletter, I will have the easy option to do just that at the top of the email. (Click here to sign up - first one goes out on Monday 2/21.)

Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far. It has been an exciting trip, and I can't wait to publish Book Two!

For The Latest News...

I have been doing a great deal of behind-the-scenes work this week. I am only two weeks away from publishing The Prophecy (e-book versions), so I have been working to make it easy to spread the word. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this big step, but I'm also very excited and very ready.

One of my favorite things to do is send news via email. But as anyone who has worked with me knows, a simple black and white email just won't do. So I am planning to publish two different colorful and interactive newsletters each month.

The Alison O'Neill Hess Newsletter will be published on the 1st of each month and will contain news about my writing, including upcoming middle grade projects and anything else I'd like to share.

The Between Souls Series Newsletter will be published on the 21st of each month and will focus on The Prophecy, The Chapel and The Oracle. Background information from the novels and sneak-peaks will be the focus of these issues.

If you'd like to get both newsletters, simply click both options on the sign up form and you will be included on both lists.

To get started, please click the link at the top right of my blog that says SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER and you'll be taken to a form that looks like this:

After finishing the form, you will receive an email to confirm that you wish to subscribe. Click the link in the email to be taken to a confirmation page, and you are finished.

I think this will be a fun way for me to keep everyone informed. Feel free to share the newsletters with anyone who you think may be interested - they will include easy Facebook, Twitter and email forwarding links in the top left column.

Coming soon - purchasing information for The Prophecy...

Welcome One and All

I don't usually check my blog statistics. I used to check them every day, but eventually the novelty wore off and I stopped. Every once in a while, I'd take a look to see if there any new viewers, but I didn't really analyze what it said.

Last weekend, I noticed that I had a few international visitors. Then today I decided to take a closer look, and I was amazed by what I found! In the 10 months that I have been blogging, I have had visitors from all over the world. Specifically, I have had visitors from:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • China
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Latvia
  • Russia
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States
I am so grateful for all of my friends from around the world. It is amazing that I am able to connect with so many people who love writing and reading as much as I do. Welcome everyone!
